There are several stories in our Catholic heritage that introduce us to Our Lady of Victory. This story centers around Prague. Here's one of them.
In 1620, a battle erupted near Prague where Emperor Ferdinand II and Prince Maxmilian of Bavaria faced Protestant armies. Just before the battle, a Carmelite monk found a painting in a castle. It showed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and the birth of Jesus. It had unfortunately been defaced by the opposing forces.
The monk took the picture to the troops, urging them to honor Mary in battle. His passion fired up the soldiers, and they rallied under Mary's name, making it their battle cry! They were indeed victorious . They named the painting Our Lady of Victory and paraded it into Prague, decking it out with fancy jewels to honor its role in their triumph.
It's a reminder that even in tough times, devotion to Mary can bring us together and give us strength. Let's keep this story close, knowing that Mary's always there for us, bringing us courage and blessings.
